Talent
Karla Guerra

An engineer-turned-recruiter, Karla is fascinated with startups and what makes them tick. People are at the heart of that. She loves to network through coffee chats, conferences, and any means necessary to get in front of top talent.

Highlights

The recruiting jumpstart

Karla started recruiting at Harnham, an agency for data & analytics. As a managing consultant across Harnham's AI and Computer Vision practice, she worked with and hired talent for some of the most exciting tech brands behind novel R&D — including Cruise, Walmart Labs, and Twitter Cortex.

Executive search

Eager to go deep into high-performing leadership, Karla joined Erevena, Europe's leading executive search practice. While there, she helped land top CTOs and CPOs at tech companies across the U.S. and Europe, including Remitly, Absci, and DriveWealth. She then joined the Ventures practice at Riviera Partners and was instrumental in recruiting execs for SaaS, AI startups and incubators — including ConcertAI, Xaira Therapeutics, ID.me, Open Core Ventures, and Artists Equity.

Karla loves making serendipity happen—whether it's connecting someone to the perfect role immediately after meeting or connecting someone to their founder years later.

Superpowers

Building core culture

Karla spends time up front to understand the essence that makes a startup unique. Founders can trust that everyone walking through the door will have complementary skills and personalities to build from that core.

Networking with deeply technical folks

Karla can talk-the-talk with engineers and uses it to build relationships that go beyond the surface, whether it’s a founding engineer, a lead author of a seminal paper, or open source creators.

Thinking outside the box

Whether you need to get ahold of a top researcher through Reddit or fly to a European conference to meet top security engineers, Karla will find a way.
